Snow pea belongs to the Fabaceae family of legumes, is the annual or biennial herbaceous climbing plant, it is also known as sweet broad pea, its scientific name is Pisum sativum var. saccharatum. Snow pea is a different species of Peas wherein the whole pods can be eaten. Both snow peas and sugar snap are popular as mange tout (which mean is “eat all” in French) in a lot of regions of Europe.

Snow peas is a semi-cold plants, likes the cold and wet weather, not heat-resisting. Some scholars believe that the center of origin of snow peas is Ethiopia, Mediterranean and Central Asia, the second center of evolution is the Near East. Some people think that originated in the southern Caucasus to Iran. In short, snow peas is an ancient crop, widely distributed throughout the world.

The nutritional value of Snow peas

Step 2: Remove the string from the other side of the snow pea. Removing the string will make the snow peas more tender.

Step 3: Use a razor-sharp knife to thinly slice the snow peas halve diagonally or lengthways, if desired.
